STEAMBOAT BASE AREA REDEVELOPMENT:
Signs and Wayfinding
drawing from the character of the Yampa Valley, wayfinding signs feature elements of the western landscape, ranching heritage, and the high tech gear of winter sports
This comprehensive wayfinding—and placemaking—system establishes memorable destination branding for Steamboat resort.
Signs feature welcoming arched “gateway” structures, the color palette of the region, and woven copper detailing patterned from tooled leather. Plaza orientation signs feature the arch of ranch gates, vehicular signs delineate the seasons with snow gauges, and banners on custom light fixtures celebrate Steamboat’s unbridled summer and winter recreational opportunities.
Additionally, a custom solar kiosk, located at the mountain’s shuttle stop, orients visitors to hotels, restaurants, and businesses located on the mountain.
